It's been a long time since I was last here!
Hi, how are you?
The Duck Egg Threads business plan for 2021/22 was tossed aside and put on the back burner. Accepting that the plan wasn't going to happen, has given me time to explore and really think about my vision for Duck Egg Threads.
Thankfully the past year hasn't been a total waste of time, there have been two constants I've been working on in the background.
The first has been exploring colour and how we use it in quilting. I’ve loved getting into the nitty gritty of colour theory, from the basics of complementary colours to the more in depth use of neutrals. How getting the fabric values (i.e. those high / low volume prints) right can set the tone of your quilt, to recognising when something is ‘off’.
The other has been PatchWork, a course from Shannon Brinkley. There are so, so many courses out there to help you start your own business, but what is different and fantastic about PatchWork is that its solely for anyone wanting to earn a living in the quilt industry. It focuses on all aspects of the quilting world, whether you want to design your own patterns and how to promote and sell them or you want to sell your longarm services.
One thing I’ve found invaluable about Patchwork since signing up in 2021 is that the content is yours for ever - all the videos and resources are yours to dip in and out of whenever you want.
I’ve found that over the months I’ve gone back more times than I can count and revisit a topic. It’s helped me so much when I’ve had to re plan (time and time again!), to accept that change is ok, you don’t HAVE to stick with your original idea and even to remind myself why I’m embarking on this journey in the first place!
Patch Work is only offered once a year, without a doubt the biggest plus for me is that if you sign up, you can join in again in subsequent years for FREE!
I’ll be back for round two starting 6th June - cannot wait!!
The support is amazing and the resources are endless.
If you are remotely curious about earning a living from quilting but don’t know where to start, I’d encourage you to take a look and click on the link below.

So what’s my plan for the coming months?
- Working with colour - you are going to hear a lot more about this from me in the coming months, I cannot wait to share more about this fascinating subject with you.
- Sharing my love of English Paper Piecing (EPP) and Applique – No matter your experience I’ll be there to help, from the basics to more advanced. Duck Egg Threads will be there every step of the way to support you, you’ll even get to try some Duck Egg Threads designs for yourself.
The dust has finally (literally) settled and I'm raring to go.

I’d love for you to join me on my journey

So good to see you back Sarah! I’m looking forward to revisiting Patchwork too. I’m glad you were able to take stock during all the chaos and look forward to seeing your new designs xx
